Chapter 16

Author's POV

The impressive corporate headquarters of the leading multinational company RATHORE ENTERPRISES stands as a symbol of innovation and prestige. The building's sleek glass and steel architecture gleam under the midday sun, reflecting the surrounding cityscape. A spacious, well-manicured plaza leads up to the main entrance, with modern sculptures and a tranquil fountain adding to the refined atmosphere.

A large bus pulls into the driveway, its engine purring quietly before coming to a stop. The bus, filled with college students carries an air of purpose and anticipation. The door swings open with a soft hiss, and the students begin to disembark. They are dressed in business casual attire—blazers, dress shirts, slacks, and skirts—each carrying a portfolio or a briefcase, a subtle sign of their intent. The tension is visible; today is a big day.

As they step off the bus, the students are greeted by the impressive sight of the corporate plaza. The sound of the fountain mingles with the soft rustle of leaves in the neatly trimmed hedges. A few employees pass by, casting curious glances at the arriving group, while maintaining their professional stride towards the entrance.

Near the entrance, a group of company representatives stands ready to welcome the students. Dressed in professional attire, they exude confidence and warmth. One representative, a seasoned HR manager with a welcoming smile, steps forward to greet the students.

"Welcome to THE RATHORE ENTERPRISES!" she announces, her voice friendly yet authoritative.

"We're excited to have you here for your internship interviews. Today is an opportunity for you to showcase your skills and passion, and to get a glimpse of what it's like to be part of our team."

The students nod, some smiling nervously, others taking deep breaths. They clutch their portfolios a little tighter, mentally preparing for the interviews ahead. Behind the representatives, the building's entrance looms large, with tall glass doors that offer a glimpse into the sleek, modern lobby. Inside, the lobby is a testament to the company's success—high ceilings, polished marble floors, and a stylish reception area. A large digital screen displays the company's core values and recent achievements, a reminder of the high standards that await the interns.

As the students are ushered towards the entrance, the HR manager outlines the day's schedule. "You'll be guided to our interview rooms where you'll meet with various department heads. After your interviews, we'll have a networking session with current employees, giving you a chance to ask questions and learn more about the work we do here."

The students exchange glances, a mix of excitement and apprehension in their eyes. For many, this is their first step into the professional world, a chance to start their careers with a prestigious company. They walk with purpose towards the entrance, the glass doors sliding open to welcome them into a world of opportunity.

The fountain's gentle splashes and the quiet hum of the plaza fade as the doors close behind the last student, sealing them into the building's refined interior.

“I know a way by which you can definitely crack your interview.” Shree said to a nervous Vikram beside her.

“Really what's that?” Vikram asked.

“Seduce the interviewer.” Shree said with a fake serious voice, making Vikram pass her a bored look.

“Oh, are you going to do the same as you are advising me?” Came Vikram’s savage reply.

“No I don't need to do it, to clear an interview you need to be talented and if you are not then you have to use such seductive ways. And me, you already I am just way too talented and smart for this world so it's an idea for you people not me.” Shree replied with a more savage answer followed by a wink.

“You—” Before Vikram can say some sweet words to her Kartik intervenes.

“𝑮𝒖𝒚𝒔 𝒋𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒅𝒂 𝒃𝒂𝒂𝒅 𝒎𝒆 𝒌𝒂𝒓 𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒂 𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒉𝒂𝒂𝒍 𝒂𝒑𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒂𝒔 𝒑𝒂𝒂𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒌𝒉𝒍𝒐 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒂 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 𝒔𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒉𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒖𝒎 𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒐 𝒌𝒐 𝒔𝒖𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒎𝒊𝒍 𝒋𝒂𝒂𝒚𝒆.”

[Guys, you can fight later, for now look around you and behave or both of you will get suspended before the interview.]

“We are not fighting, we were just encouraging each other for the interview, right?” Shree said looking at Vikram.

“Yes she is right.” Vikram spoke.

“Great way to encourage.” Kartik mumbled. “Best of luck to both of you. I am going towards the marketing department for my interview.”

“All the best!” Both Shree and Vikram said in unison, passing him thumbs-up.

They also moved towards the Finance department following the representative.

“You all can wait here, your names will be called for an interview.” The same representative lady spoke with a polite smile.

They nodded and sat on the nearby couch she mentioned waiting for their turn.

“Amit Rao!”

After waiting for more than ten minutes, the first was called out.

He stood up and went inside the room with a nervous yet small smile.

“Vicky, you will do the best. It's not a job interview, just an internship, don't worry.” Shree said softly looking at Vikram who was tapping his foot nervously on the floor.

“But I am scared what if I make fun of myself.” Vikram spoke.

“Don't worry at all, you are the smartest in class… after me of course they will gladly hire you.” Shree spoke with a confident smile.

“By the way, why aren't you anxious at all?” Vikram asked, confused, it's not daily you come for an interview so being nervous is common.

“Well, you know I am smart and I even know how to seduce so why fear.” She answered, making him roll his eyes.

“Just tell me!” Vikram hissed.

“Fine. I went to temple this morning and I made a deal with Kanha ji that if I passed the interview I will make a lot of makhana for him.” She answered.

“You will surely pass?” Vikram spoke.

“Hundred and one percent sure. Last time I topped the university exams with the same deal.” Shree said with a huge grin.

“Vikram I will get going!” She said,

“Huh?”

“I know I am too pretty but that doesn't mean you will forget everything while looking at my pretty face.” She said getting up with her file in hand.

“It's my turn dude!” She added finding he is still confused.

“Best of luck!” Vikram spoke after understanding.

Shree stood in front of the office door and took a deep breath.

‘Don’t forget the deal Kanha ji’

She went inside the office room after knocking on the door.

“Good morning!” Shree greeted after entering the room and the door closed behind her.

After some minutes the door opened and Shree came outside with a huge smile and moved out of the area towards the reception waiting where all the other students gathered after their interview.

“How did it go?” Kartik inquired just as he saw her coming towards them.

“Hmm what…?”

“Chiku.” Kartik passed her 😒 .

“Good no best…they are dieing to make me a permanent employee in this company already.” Shree spoke with a toothy grin.

“They are surely going to die if it really happened.” Kartik mumbled to himself.

“What… what did you say?” Shree spoke suspiciously.

“Nothing I said. Let's see what their luck is.”

“Guys!” Their bickering came to halt hearing Vikram.

“Oh Shree you were right I was worried for nothing the interview went really well.” Vikram spoke, getting smiles from the duo.

“Students! As the interviews are completed, now it's time for all of us to move towards the meeting room where our company’s CEO would like to give you all a few words of encouragement.” One of the representatives spoke, catching the attention of all students in the waiting area.

“I didn't know something like that is also a part of today.” Shree said, crying internally, the sorry card incident is still alive in her mind.

“Oh God really, I have seen the CEO’s picture in magazines . He is so hot and handsome.” One of the girls among the students said with a dreamy smile.

“Let's go Chiku!” Kartik said to Shree who was busy thinking about the hot—I mean CEO reaction on seeing her here.

‘What if he rejected my internship after knowing it's me?— no no don't think negative, keep the positive energy alive in you. Nothing like that will happen. Kanha ji is with us.’

After her mental talk with herself she also followed the other students towards the meeting room.

Inside the quiet office Adhyansh was holding the file in his hand when a knock on the door disturbed his focus.

“Come in.”

Neil walked in with a professional smile on his face.

“Sir, the interview for internship is done and now it's time for us to move towards the meeting room to meet the students.” Neil said.

Adhyansh nodded, closed the file in his hand and stood up taking his blazer and wearing it over his white shirt as he and Neil made their way towards the meeting room.

All the students were seated on the chairs waiting for the CEO to arrive, some nervous, some eager and one internally praying…yup she is our dear Chiku.

The door of the meeting room opened, Neil followed by Adhyansh walked in.

Adhyansh moved in front of the students' chair and stood there, while Neil started to announce.

“Welcome to Rathore Enterprises, I am Neil Malhotra, Secretary of the CEO, so everyone might think what we are here for right? Don't worry we are not here for any speech to bore you all. We are here for the interview results, this early…yes we had already done the interview and the result is out. We didn't want to spend more time on it.” Neil spoke, and these words were enough to make all the students anxious. They shared nervous looks among one another.

“So from all fifty of you only thirty students have cleared the interviews and they are…” Neil started announcing the names.

Adhyansh was paying attention to the names and when he heard the next names his eyes started scanning the room to look for the owner of the name.

“SHREE!”

Shree was already looking at Adhyansh and when his eyes met hers they felt as if the time stopped. They just kept looking in each other’s eyes forgetting the people around them in the meeting room.

Their eye contact was broken by Neil, who shook Adhyansh’s shoulder to tell him something.

Adhyansh cleared his throat and focused on Neil’s words. They both started talking about something. Totally unaware of the eyes which were looking at them with an unknown glint in them.

“Did I just get a ship on my first day at the office? What should we call this ship? Neil + Adhyansh ? Adhil… wow Adhil what a name. Good job Chiku. I don't think working in an office will be boring from now on. Hehehe.” Shree spoke to herself, admiring her ship.

Kartik who heard her mental talk couldn't help but pray to God for his boss and his secretary’s good from now as Shree had already entered their life.

Adhyansh was still busy with Neil on the same topic they were discussing unaware about what's coming next in his life.
